Confirm domain and organization readiness
Confirm that domains and organizations meet validation requirements before submitting a certificate request. Incomplete validation is the most common cause of pending certificate orders.

As of February 24, 2026, the domain validation reuse period is limited to 199 days. Learn more about Domain validation requirements and reuse periods.
Identify the primary domain to include as the common name
List any additional subject alternative names (SANs)
Confirm you can complete domain control validation for each domain
For OV and EV certificates, confirm domains are assigned to the correct organization in your account
For DV certificates, domain validation is completed as part of each order. DV certificates do not support domain prevalidation.
For OV and EV certificates, domain prevalidation allows faster issuance. For immediate certificate issuance, domain and organization validation must be complete before submitting the request.

Submission and approval requirements
Confirm you have permission to submit certificate requests in your account
Confirm whether internal approval is required before issuance
For EV TLS/SSL, code signing, and EV code signing certificates, confirm that a validated verified contact is available to approve the request
To remove the approval step for Administrator and Manager roles on OV and EV TLS, code signing, and document signing certificates:
In the CertCentral menu, go to Settings > Preferences.
Expand Advanced settings.
In the Certificate Requests section, select Skip the approval step.
Select Save Settings.
Notice
Even with the approval step removed, certificate requests submitted by Finance Manager, Standard User, and Limited User roles always require administrator approval. This setting applies to Enterprise and Partner accounts only.
Confirm your user role and permissions
Administrator and Manager roles can skip the approval step for their own requests. This applies to Enterprise and Partner accounts only.
Finance Manager, Standard User, and Limited User roles always require administrator approval regardless of the skip approval setting.
Subscription and Legacy accounts have Administrator and Finance Manager roles only.
